Cashier - Revenue Collection

About the role

BVI Electricity Corporation is looking for a Cashier in Virgin Gorda, reporting to the Accounts Officer within the Finance Department. The role covers the accurate, efficient and secure collection and processing of revenue through various payment methods, ensuring transactions are recorded, balanced and accounted for under established policies and internal controls. It also involves courteous customer service and helping resolve payment-related issues.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and accurately process revenue through approved payment methods
• Record, report and reconcile payments received according to established procedures
• Process cash, credit card and debit card payments accurately and efficiently
• File and maintain all related financial and transaction documents
• Work with colleagues and other departments to deliver effective customer service
• Assist customers with setting up and accessing online accounts
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum)
• 0-1 year of experience in a cashier, customer service or office environment
• Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
• Strong numerical, organizational and attention-to-detail skills

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of bookkeeping and cash-handling procedures
• Proficiency in standard computer applications

The work is primarily office-based, with occasional coordination with field staff on disconnection and reconnection matters, and may require extended hours during peak periods.
