Automotive Engineering Technology Lecturer

About the role

H. Lavity Stoutt Community College is seeking a full-time Lecturer for its Technical and Vocational Education Department. The Lecturer teaches both theory and practical components of their assigned courses, including automotive engineering topics, and delivers day, evening, weekend and online classes.

Key responsibilities

• Teach five courses (15-17 credit hours) per semester, including Engineering Science & Technology, Chassis Brakes & Suspensions Systems, Engine Overhaul and Repairs, Automotive Engineering Technology and Science, and Workshop Health and Safety.
• Deliver innovative pedagogy in face-to-face and online settings, and develop course syllabi aligned with current industry trends.
• Provide a quality learning experience for all students and act as an academic advisor.
• Coordinate internships and other student programmes.
• Engage with external institutions and the wider community to support research, teaching and the college's strategic objectives.
• Assist in marketing the department's programmes and recruiting students.
• Participate actively in department or college committees.

Required profile

• Master's degree or equivalent in the subject area from an accredited or recognized university.
• Automotive Engineering Technology or relevant industry certification.
• At least three years of tertiary-level teaching experience; prior vocational institute experience is an asset.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, and ability to work in a team with other faculty.

What we offer

• Salary of $55,438.33, with the first $10,000 tax-exempted and 8% tax thereafter.
• 8% gratuity on successful completion of the contract.
