Accounting and Finance Lecturer

About the role

The H. Lavity Stoutt Community College in the British Virgin Islands is seeking a full-time Accounting and Finance Lecturer for its Business and Entrepreneurship Department. The lecturer must be able to teach comfortably in at least four of the listed courses: Finance, Investments, Financial Markets and Institutions, Digital Currency and Financial Management.

Key responsibilities

• Perform teaching duties in line with the College's mission, vision, policies and procedures.
• Use innovative pedagogy in face-to-face and online settings, and develop course syllabi aligned with current industry trends.
• Teach five courses (15-17 credit hours) per semester, including day, evening, weekend and online courses, possibly at more than one location.
• Act as an academic advisor to students and coordinate internships and other student programmes.
• Engage with external institutions and the wider community to support research, teaching and the campus strategy.
• Help market the Department's programmes and recruit students, and take part in Department or College committees.

Required profile

• An earned doctorate in a relevant discipline, with at least four years of teaching or academic experience and evidence of continuing scholarship.
• Or a master's degree or equivalent with seven years of successful teaching or academic experience as a Lecturer and evidence of continuing scholarship.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, teamwork and mentoring abilities.

Required skills

• Familiarity with educational technology and digital tools.
• Competence in delivering instruction both in person and virtually.

What we offer

• Salary of $55,438.33 (USD), with the first $10,000 tax exempted and 8% tax thereafter.
• 8% gratuity on successful completion of the contract.
